Lothar Ernst Gronau, 79 of Janesville WI died May 21, 2014 at his home. He was born in Germany on July 25, 1934, the son of Willi and Anni (Schmidt) Gronau. He resided in Rockford, IL most of his life where he was a long-time employee of National Lock Metal Crafters. Lothar (Larry) loved to fish with his son and grandsons and go to soccer games with his daughter and grandchildren. He was an avid soccer fan who loved to give pointers to his grandchildren as they played soccer. We know he is overjoyed for the recent World Cup win by Germany.
Surviving are 2 children, William Gronau and Lori Sheetz, 6 grandchildren, Cody, Hunter and Gage Gronau, Randi, Rylee and Timothy Sheetz, a sister Marrianne (Peter) Bried of Germany, a sister-in-law, Renate Gronau of Germany. In addition to his parents, Lothar was preceded in death by his brother, Gerhard Gronau. A celebration of Lothar’s life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the German Society of Rockford, 2500 Latham Street, Rockford, IL.
